SPECIAL EDITORIAL NOTE FROM SPORTS_NUT, 2/26/2011
.
Welcome to the retirement edition of Funny Sports Quotes.
.
The Funny Sports Quotes blog was created in 11/2007 after I could see I could become a blogger very easily using Google's 3-step process for creating a blog online.
.
For me, like most, work is not my idea of a fun experience, so I had to choose the topic that I would most enjoy pursuing and that, for me, was finding and posting funny sports quotes for entertaining and, in some cases, educating an audience on facets of sports even the most ardent sports fans may not have been aware of.
.
At the same time, I decided to compile a database of funny sports quotes that sports fans and quote fans could visit for "one-stop" shopping, thereby helping them to avoid the need to search elsewhere for sports quotes.
.
So, from 11/2007 until 2/2011. I have compiled quotes on the Funny Sports Quotes blog and its sister blog, FSQuotes, that is accessible only from the Funny Sports Quotes blog.
.
As of 2/26/2011, I believe I have achieved my objective first set in 11/2007, which signals for me the end of my funny sports quotes database project.
.
Kindly note that I have already made the last post (SI Swimsuit) to the blog, shut off further entries to Comments, and I will shut off the email address sports.quotes@gmail.com on 03/14/2011.
.
Also note that many features previously cited on this page have been removed, so that a bare-bones FSQ remains for your future reference.
.
I do hope that my venture was successful in bringing a smile to your face or a skip to your step, since that was all FSQ was created for, your entertainment and pleasure.
.
In closing, I wish you and yours, Godspeed!

WNBA Notes and Quotes: July 9-15, 2007

Houston's Tina Thompson is the only 2007 All-Star who played in the 1997 inaugural season.

"I'm about to shed tears because I'm a defensive coach. For our defense to be incomplete and incompetent is obviously a reflection on me."
• L.A. Sparks coach Michael Cooper reacts to his team's defense during Tuesday night's 82-47 loss to the Seattle Storm, to All Headline News.

"It was very tough. Again it felt like we had a great chance to win the game and we let it slip. Coming off a loss against New York we had two great days of practice so we felt like we were ready. We made some mistakes that we usually don't make. We turned the ball over in the first half. The second half we could not contain (Lindsay) Whalen . Those are things that are our defense, something that we are very proud of. Today we just weren't there."
• Sacramento's Ticha Penicheiro reflects on Thursday's disappointing 83-78 overtime loss to the Monarchs.

"We just have to keep playing hard and stay focused. We don't want to get too high up but we want to keep that positive energy that we're playing with right now and then I think everything will be okay."
• Lindsey Whalen on Connecticut's three game win streak.

"Janel is more aggressive underneath and has more of an outside game than Davenport (Jessica)."
• Indiana's Tan White on New York Center Janel McCarville after Indiana defeated New York on Thursday 79-63. McCarville had a team high 13 points and 6 rebounds.

"It is extremely upsetting to see my first season in the WNBA end this way… I would definitely like to thank all of the Lynx fans for all of their support. One thing you can count on from me is that I will work as hard as I can to rehab my knee, and I will definitely be back next season better than ever."
• Minnesota rookie Lindsey Harding discusses her season-ending knee injury.

"I don't think in an interview I've ever used the word 'legacy.' It's not something I ever thought about until now because now I'm in my last days. Not because I can't physically play the game, because I can."
• Houston's Tina Thompson reflects on her career, as she is the only 2007 All-Star who played in the 1997 inaugural season, to USA TODAY.
